Dr. William D. Gulsby

School of Forestry and Wildlife Sciences, Auburn University
Assistant Professor of Wildlife Ecology and Management
Dr. Will Gulsby received his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Wildlife Ecology and Management from the University of Georgia. In 2015, he was hired as an assistant professor in the School of Forestry and Wildlife Sciences at Auburn University. He currently teaches or co-teaches courses in wildlife habitat management, wildlife conservation history and law, and Auburn's summer wildlife practicum, interacting with approximately 150 undergraduate wildlife students each year. He also advises or serves as a committee member for 14 wildlife graduate students. His research interests have afforded him the opportunity to work closely with state wildlife agency biologists for the past 10 years and develop an understanding of their needs and priorities. Although Will comes from a more traditional wildlife background in that his passion for hunting and trapping led him to his career, his relatively recent interactions with today's wildlife students as a fellow student and now as a professor have provided him with some insights on the challenges associated with developing wildlife professionals in the 21st century.
